A Mission Built on Cultural Strength
The Kind Hearted Woman Society is an Indigenous-led organization dedicated to supporting young Indigenous women in Rapid City and the surrounding region. We exist to close critical gaps in mentorship, programming, and culturally grounded resources — meeting young women where they are and honoring who they are.

What We Do
At its heart, our work is simple: we show up for young Indigenous women. We build the networks, provide the resources, and create the mentorship relationships that help each person discover her own strength and step into her power.
Supportive Networks
We connect young women with peers, mentors, and community members who reflect their identity and affirm their worth
Personal Development
We nurture self-actualization through guided reflection, skill-building, and culturally resonant programming
Community Leadership
We prepare the next generation of Indigenous women to lead with confidence, compassion, and cultural pride

Traditional Lakota Ways + Real Conversations
Culture is not a backdrop — it is the foundation. Our programs weave traditional Lakota practices into every gathering, fostering deep self-respect and pride. Alongside these teachings, we create space for honest, critical conversations guided by experienced peers who understand the challenges young Indigenous women face today.
Traditional Practices
Ceremony, storytelling, and cultural knowledge passed through trusted relationships
Peer Guidance
Experienced mentors who have walked similar paths share wisdom and lived knowledge
Critical Dialogue
Safe, honest conversations about identity, resilience, and navigating modern life as an Indigenous woman
